Five persons yesterday died in a ghastly motor accident that involved an eighteen seater town service commercial bus and a stationary trailer that broke down on the Kaduna Bridge.
The accident, which occurred at about 10 p.m 25 July, also left other eight passengers on board severely injured. According to witnesses, the driver who departed from the Sheik Mahammud Gumi Central Market area and was heading to Ungwar Romi was on a very high speed with the rickety bus , when he ran into the rear side of a broken down and abandoned stationary trailer on the middle of the Kaduna bridge.
The Public Relations Officer, Kaduna Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Commission, FRSC Superintendent Route Commander, Yunusa Ibrahim told P.M.News that the driver of the commercial bus was not only on a high speed but also must be either under a high influence of drugs or alcohol not to have seen the trailer that was conspicuously broken down on speed lane on the bridge.
Yunusa however, hinted P.M.News that the FRSC personnel swung into action immediately they got the information about the accident.
“We got to the accident scene few minutes after and tried to rescue those that survived that accident. We took them to the Saint Gerard Hospital and the four that died instantly to the mortuaryâ€.
