An up-coming Nigerian boxer, Akeem Sodiq, has said that lack of sufficient boxing promoters is ruining the game in the country.
Sodiq made the declaration in a chat with P.M.Sports after he outboxed Malik Isiaka at the Standing-Toe-To-Toe boxing tournament held at SSY Place, Oke- Aro, Lagos.
Sodiq, who fought in the Super-middleweight category, said Nigerian boxing can also be at par with the game in other countries if more promoters can invest in it.
“The problem with Nigerian boxing is lack of promoters. We don’t have enough promoters to promote upcoming boxers and discover new talents. If more promoters can invest in the game, boxing in Nigeria will no doubt change for the better,†said Sodiq.
On his future plans, Sodiq said he aspires to become the national champion and he is ready to do is utmost to achieve his goal.
“My goal is to become the national champion and I am ready to do my best to realise my dream. That is what I am working towards at the moment and I know that by God’s grace it will become a reality,†said the hitman.
