NDLEA Impounds 24.2kg Narcotics

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Seme Border Command, Lagos State, says it impounded 24.2kg of narcotics between April and June this year.

Similarly, 17 suspects were arrested during the period with eight of them already convicted.

The Area Commander, Mr. Nicholas Ajaduruonye told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Badagry on Tuesday that the drugs included cocaine, amphetamine and cannabis (Indian hemp).

He said officers and men of the command were able to achieve the feat through profiling of suspects.

“We have impounded a total of 24.27kg of hard drugs in the last three months as a result of the special skill of our men,” Ajaduruonye said.

According to a breakdown given by Ajaduruonye, 429.9 grams were seized in April while 7.6 kg and 16.25kg were seized in May and June, respectively.

He said some of the suspects had been counselled with a view to rehabilitating them.

The NDLEA chief disclosed that 7,970.8kg of drugs seized in Lagos State by the agency were publicly destroyed on May 6 in Badagry.
