27th July, 2011
Our attention has been drawn to our lead report of Tuesday, 26 July, 2011 with the headline: Tenants Desert ‘Shaky-Shaky’ 3-Storey House.
A lawyer to the landlord of the building at 240, Herbert Macaulay Road, Barrister O.J. Ibeanu has explained that an ejected tenant who was trying to get back at the landlady of the house for ejecting him was behind the false information that the house was shaky.
Barrister Ibeanu said there was nothing wrong with the building at 240, Herbert Macaulay Road, adding that the foundation was as strong as ever. The lawyer explained that the ejected tenant owed the old landlady five years rent and refused to pay but was kicked out by the court last year.
P.M.NEWS investigations revealed that another building at 29, Hughes Avenue was actually the one distressed and has been marked for demolition by the officials of the Lagos State government.
The tenants had packed out of the three-storey building when our reporter visited there this morning.
