As Nigerians look forward to a good outing at the FIFA U-20 championship in Colombia, starting this weekend, Dr. Rauf Ladipo, President General of Nigeria Football Supporters Club, says the club needs N25 million to cheer the Flying Eagles in the championship.
Ladipo told P.M.Sports at the secretariat of Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, in Abuja yesterday that the club members face the problem of raising the funds to be in Colombia for the Nigerian team.
“It is not easy. We are still battling to make sure that our members land in Colombia but it is a big problem. We need at least N25 million to successfully stay in Colombia during the period of the tournament to support our team,†Ladipo lamented.
He stressed that the ticket to Colombia is very expensive due to the distance, but they are determined to be at the World Cup no matter the odds against them.
“The ticket for a member costs N600,000 and Colombia does not have an Embassy here in Nigeria. We have to go to South Africa. Although the problem of visas has been solved, we only need money for other logistics,†he said.
