Teenagers Steal N100,000 From Church

Three teenagers were on Tuesday brought before an Ebute Meta Magistrates’ Court, Lagos, for allegedly stealing property valued at N100,000 belonging to the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG).

Joshua Cole, Emmanuel Chukwudi and Samuel Ajao, all aged 18, were brought before Magistrate Joy Ugbomoiko on a three-count charge of conspiracy, burglary and stealing.

The prosecutor, Cpl. Ishiaku Babaji, alleged that the accused had in the early hours of July 17 broke into the church premises at Gbagada area of Lagos and carted away an Amazon guitar valued N100,000.

Babaji said that the accused were accosted by a police patrol team and could not give account of the stolen item.

He said the offence contravened Sections 390 (9), 415 and 516 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Lagos State and carried seven years imprisonment on conviction.

The accused however, pleaded, not guilty to the charges.

Ugbomoiko granted the accused bail each in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties in like sum each, and the the case was adjourned till Aug. 17 for further hearing.
