The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Lagos, Professor Babatunde Sofoluwe, alongside university officials, donated a Nissan bus to the Nigeria Police Force, Sabo Division, Lagos State.
According to him, the gesture was aimed at consolidating existing cordial relationship between the institution and the Nigeria Police.
He explained that the peaceful and secure environment is the secret behind the universityâ€™s stable academic calendar.
â€œThe police play a big role in the life of every university and we believe that no support to this institution is too little. This is our widowâ€™s mite which we believe will further strengthen security of lives and property on the campus and its immediate environment,â€ he stated.
Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Yakub Akali, applauded the vice chancellor for the good gesture and sustainance of the existing relationship.
Speaking on his behalf was the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Mr. Bashiru Kehinde, who promised that the Lagos State Police Command, Sabo Division, will not relent in ensuring that lives and properties are safe in the university as well as continue in ensuring that the school is safe for all.
At the event were Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics and Research), Professor Modupe Ogunlesi; Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Management Services), Professor Rahman Bello; the Registrar, Mr. Oluwarotimi Shodimu; Acting Bursar, Mrs. A. Serrano and Acting Librarian, Dr. Okanlawon Adediji, and among others.
