Accused Steals Brother's N2.7m With Friends

Monday Ugochukwu, 26 and four others on Wednesday pleaded guilty to stealing N2.7 million belonging to Monday’s brother, Jude.

The accused, Chinedu Eze, 23; Chinedu Enyim, 23; Nwankwo Chjioke, 20; Nonso Nwobi 26 and Monday, were docked before a Surulere Magistrates’ Court in Lagos.

They are standing trial on a three-count charge of conspiracy, house breaking and stealing.

The prosecutor, Sgt. Onime Idowu told the court that the accused on June 28, at 45, Hastrup St., Surulere, Lagos conspired to commit the offence.

Idowu said: “Monday conspired with his friends to burgle the house of his elder brother, Mr. Jude Ugochukwu when he travelled to the village for a burial.“

He said that the accused forcefully gained entrance to where the money was kept in the house around 7 p.m.

Magistrate M. K. O. Fadeyi adjourned the case till July 29 for ruling and ordered that the accused be remanded in prison custody till then.
