Landlord Shot Dead In Ajah Clash

A clash between youths at Ilaje, Ajah, Lagos has claimed the life of a landlord in the area, Chief Augustine Orola, a.k.a. Orogbodo.

Orogbodo, P.M.NEWS gathered, was shot dead during a clash between youths of Ajah Ijebu and their Ilaje counterparts on Monday at Tombola Hotel. The cause of the clash which sent commuters, passersby and motorists scampering for safety could not be ascertained.

Witnesses revealed that Ajah Ijebu youths invaded the Ilaje community with guns, cutlasses, knives, broken bottles and unleashed terror on residents. In the confusion that ensued, one of the youths reportedly shot the landlord who was standing beside a building at 52, California Street, Off Ilaje Street, Ajah. Scores of residents also sustained injuries during the attack.

Some vehicles parked along Ilaje Street were not spared by the rampaging youths who vandalised them.

Investigations revealed that the injured landlord died of loss of blood at the hospital where he was rushed to.

His death led to another round of hostilities by the youths but they were contained by policemen from Ajiwe division and OPMESSA. Some of the youths were arrested by the police and are being detained at the State CID, Panti, Yaba.

Corpse of the deceased was deposited at a mogue in Ajah Hospital.

Narrating how he learnt of his fatherâ€s death, one of the children of the deceased, Captain Adedoyin Oroka said: “I was at work when I received a call that my father had been shot. I rushed home and found out that he was dead.

“I am appealing to the state Commissioner of Police and Governor Babatunde Fashola to wade into the matter and ensure that justice was done.”
