SS Lazio star and Flying Eagles striker, Sani Emmanuel, has declared Nigeriaâ€™s readiness to stun the rest of the world at the FIFA U-20 World Youth Championship, which starts in Colombia from 29 July.
Emmanuel said the team lackluster outing at the Four-Nation Tournament in Panama should not be used to judge them at the youth championship.
â€˜â€˜We are ready to face the world because our coaches have been trying to correct some lapses in the team during the the championship in Panama and the teamâ€™s spirit is very high,â€™â€™ he said.
He assured Nigerians that the Flying Eagles will not disappoint the nation at the championship.
Emmanuel was born on 23 December 1992 and played for the Nigeria’s Golden Eaglets at 2009 FIFA U-17 World Cup held in Nigeria. He won the prestigious FIFA U-17 World Cup Golden Ball as well as the Silver Shoe at the competetion. In March, 2011, Emmanuel signed professional contracts with Italian giants, SS Lazio.
Nigeria will play their first match on Sunday against Guatemala and three days later play their second game against Croatia before travelling to the city of Pereira for their final match in the preliminary stage of the championship againstSaudi Arabia on 6 August.
