Man Pleads Not Guilty To Burglary

“I did not do it, ” said Izu Friday Izu, 32, on Thursday as he pleaded not guilty to alleged burglary and theft charges at a Surulere, Lagos, Magistrates’ Court.

The accused was alleged to have burgled a shop at 38, Bola St., Orile Iganmu, Lagos, on July 5. The prosecutor, Sgt. Raji Akeem, told the court that the accused stole from Dr. Ibegbu Christopher, the owner of the burgled shop.

Akeem said that Izu allegedly stole computer accessories valued at N730,000.

“Izu broke into the shop at about 11.30 p.m. and carted away the properties of the complainant.

“The burglary was with intent to steal,” he said.

According to the prosecutor, the offences contravened Section 414 and 390 (9) of the Criminal Code, Laws of Lagos State. The magistrate, Mrs. Aderemi Gbajumo , granted Izu bail in the sum of N150,000 with two sureties in like sum.

She adjourned the case till Aug.11 for further hearing.
