The Nigerian Customs Service, Federal Operation Unit Zone A, Ikeja, intercepted a boat loaded with 400 bags of rice on water at the Badagry axis at about 2 a.m. on Tuesday.
According to the controller in charge of the command, Victor David Dimka, the goods are worth about N4 million duty paid value.
The smugglers are at large but the goods were intercepted and taken to Ikeja while investigation is ongoing.
The Dimka appealed to the general public to report any illegal act to the appropriate authorities and specifically advised smugglers to desist from the act because his men also will not relent until smuggling becomes a thing of the past.
