Don't Allow Boko Haram Into Lagos, Market Leader Urges Govt

A market leader in Onigbongbo Local Council Development Area of Lagos State, Alhaji Hassan Akerele, has called on the state government and security agencies in the state to beef up security to ward off members of Boko Haram sect that have been terrorising the Northern part of the country.

Akerele, who is also the Baba Oja of Onigbongbo Market and an Islamic leader in the area as well as a member of Elders Forum of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), appealed to Muslims and Christians in Lagos that have been living together in peace and harmony, to be vigilant.

A member of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), said that already, he has alerted the Muslim community in Lagos to monitor their real members, especially during prayers at the mosques, while calling on Governor Babatunde Fashola, as the chief security officer of the state, to take this piece of information as serious and act on it.

According to him, “Christians and Muslims have been living in peace and harmony in the state, so we don’t need such fanaticism in Lagos.”
