Acting Secretary General of the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, Musa Amodu, has expressed his delight with the superb performance displayed on Sunday by the Flying Eagles. He wants the team to repeat same when they confront Croatia today.
The NFF’s scribe, while speaking on Brila FM yesterday said that the team’s performance in their first game is a sign that they will go places in the tournament.
“It is a good start for them in the tournament. They need to keep the ground running. Though we won, we still need to look at the match critically. I know we will go places,†said Amodu.
Looking ahead of the Flying Eagles’ second group match against Croatia, former head coach of Nigeria’s U-17 side, the Golden Eaglets, Henry Nwosu, has called on the John Obuh-led side to forge ahead with the impressive performance they displayed against Guatemala.
Nwosu, who was a product of the U-20 championship, said he was not surprised with the heartwarming performance recorded by the team in their first match, saying that he had known right from the build up to the tourney that the Flying Eagles would dismissed the Guatemalans.
“This is a team that can boast of established players in the likes of Terna Suswam and Musa Ahmed who have already been capped by the national side, I don’t see how their opponents will be able to contain them or handle the onslaughts that they will throw at them,†he said.
“I can only advise the team not to get carried away with the outcome of the first game but rather march on in their subsequent games and make a bigger statement against Croatia in order to rubbish those that have been undermining the landslide victory they recorded against Guatemala.
“I see them winning their match against Croatia,” he said.
