Police Arrest 2, Recover Arms

The police in Lagos State, southwest Nigeria, have arrested two robbery suspects in two separate operations.

A police source revealed that following information received by the Divisional Police Officer, DPO, in charge of Alausa Police Station that robbers were operating in Agidingbi area, Ikeja, the DPO dispatched a team of anti-robbery policemen to there.

According to the source, on sighting the police, the robbers took to their heels but one of them was not so lucky as he was caught while other members of the gang escaped.

The robbers were said to have successfully robbed a victim of his Bajaj motorcycle marked QM811FST.

Items recovered from them as at the time of arrest include a locally made pistol and the stolen Bajaj motorcycle.

The suspect, the source said, has made a confessional statement to the police who have vowed to track down other members of the gang.

The case is said to have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, Panti, Yaba.

Similarly, a tip-off to the police at Ifako on the activities of robbers along Soluyi Street, Herko, has led to the arrest of of a robbery suspect.

The anti-robbery team attached to Ifako Police Station, our source revealed, stormed the area and arrested one of the robbers while others escaped.

Items recovered from the suspected robber include two locally made double barrel shotguns and two live cartridges. The case has also been transferred to the Lagos State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, Panti, Yaba for further investigation.

The Lagos State Police image maker, Mr. Samuel Jinadu, advised members of the public to always give police useful information as part of community policing to help them to perform better.
