Two Arraigned Over N.7m Theft, Murder


Two men have been arraigend at the Ikeja Magistrate’s Court for allegedly conspiring among themselves to commit felony and murder. on

The two men, Kehinde Taiwo, 23 and Ogbere Segun, 32, were alleged to have murdered Chief Imumu Salawuden after collecting N400,000, three laptops valued at N180,000, two Blackberry phones valued at N120,000 from him. The total value of the items was put at N700,000. They allegedly killed the man in the process on the 13 May, 2011, at 1, Ogooluwa Street, Bariga, Lagos State, southwest Nigeria.

They were said to have also stolen a Blackberry phone from Olayemi Oakiru, an offence punishable under Section 1(2)(a) 0f the Robbery and Firearms (Special Provision).

According to the prosecutor, Mr. Imugbe, the accused had allegedly killed Chief Salawudeen by shooting himon the back with a locally made gun.

They were arraigned on a five-count charge of robbery, felony and murder, contrary to Sections 5(b) and punishable under Section 1 (2)of the robbery and firearms act cap 378 volu xii laws of the federation, possession of locally made gun, they were charged with possession of the gun loaded with two cartridges.

The magistrate in charge, Mrs. A.C .Omomleye refused to take the plea of the accused. They were also refused bail.

The case has been adjourned till 5 October.
