The police in Ikoyi Police Division, Ikoyi, Eti-Osa, Lagos State, southwest Nigeria, have arraigned five suspected thieves and their accomplices before the Igbosere Magistrateâ€™s Court on a three-count charge of stealing and receiving stolen property.
The police identified the accused as Jidda Abubakar, 32, Muyideen Akande, 39, Sunday Lawson, 39, Vincent Iyisu, 21, Believe in God Ilenda, 30 and Vincent Cincen, 38, who allegedly rceived some of the stolen goods.
The police alleged that the accused, on 18 July, 2011 at Plot 30, Road 215, Banana Island, Ikoyi, Lagos, conspired to steal concrete mixer machine valued at N1.2 million, Samsung LEG 60 inch flat screen television valued at N1.8 million, two Samsung LEG 45 inch flat screen television valued at N1.6 million and Home theatre video valued at N750,000 with a total value of N5,600,000 property of Yomi Sonuga.
The police also alleged that Vincent Cincen on the same date received from Sunday Lawson the stolen concrete mixer machine property of Yomi Sonuga, knowing same to have been stolen.
The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge when it was read to them and the presiding magistrate Mrs. O. I. Oguntade granted bail in the sum N500,000 with two sureties each in like sum. She adjourned the matter till 12 August, 2011.
