There are strong indications that the meager N1,000 training camp allowance paid to each athlete ahead of the All Africa Games slated for Maputo, Mozambique, is generating controversy among the athletes and the various sports federations.
Clearing the air on the peanut paid to the athletes as their camp’s allowance, President of the Nigeria Table Tennis Federation, NTTF, Kayode Omotose, said on Metro FM that the federations should not be held responsible for this, adding that they are working within the budget giving to the federations by the National Sports Commission, NSC.
‘‘There is nothing the federations can do about the camp’s allowance because that is the actual amount the NSC approved for each athlete. We cannot add to it and as well deduct from it,’’ he said.
