Truck Driver Loses Control Kills 8 At Bus Stop

Eight persons were feared dead at Olori Junction, Akute, Ogun State, Southwest Nigeria, today when the driver of a MACK truck lost control of the vehicle and it ran into people at the bus stop.

Eye witnesses told P.M.NEWS that two trucks from the Osaro Tipper park in the area were trying to overtake each other when the incident occurred.

One of the trucks with registration XY 312 GGE, ran into an okada rider and two other vehicles killing at least four persons. Another eye witnesses told P.M.NEWS that four other persons who sustained severe injuries were being rushed to the Lagos State University Hospital, LASUTH, by policemen who came to the scene of the incident but they died on the way.

When P.M.NEWS visited the scene of the accident, three vehicles including the killer truck and a motorcycle were still there, while residents and sympathisers were seen discussing the tragedy.

Also, the bus stop where the incident occurred was splashed with human blood, damaged fruits and cooked food.

As at the time of going to press, there was heavy traffic jam caused by the accident along the Olori, Osaro area of Akute, while the police and road safety officials were assisting to clear the traffic jam caused by the accident.
