National President of the Actors’ Guild of Nigeria, AGN, Segun Arinze, confirmed the death of the 66-year old thespian to P.M NEWS this afternoon.

In the words of Arinze, “this is a very sad one. I wish it is not true. Uncle Sam was one of the most talented actors we had, and it is a pity that he has left us so soon.”

As at time of filing this report, the leadership has asked the Imo State chapter of the guild to liaise with the family of the family of the deceased and perhaps investigate the cause of his sudden death.

P.M NEWS gathered that the late Sam Loco had for some time now been in and out of the hospital, and had been advised by doctors to quit taking alcohol and smoking. When the actor clocked 44 some years back, he promised his fans in an interview that he would quit smoking and drinking, but sources very close to him said he never did.

Loco’s death came a few months after the demise of another prolific actor, Ashley Nwosu.

He died of a liver ailment at the Military Hospital, Yaba, on 21 April, 2011 at the age of 57.

The deaths of Nwosu and Sam Loco came shortly after the practitioners ran to Pastor Enoch Adeboye of the Redeemed Christian Church of God for a special prayer to ward off untimely deaths and sicknesses among them.
