Lagos State House of Assembly has called on the Federal Government to urgently provide pedestrian bridges on all federal roads in the state, especially along the Lagos-Abeokuta expressway.

The call was made by Hon. Ipoola Omisore, (Ifako-Ijaye Constituency II) under matter of urgent public importance at the plenary session of the House.

He argued that the call became pertinent as such facility would reduce the number of lives lost to accident on highways, especially on Lagos-Abeokuta expressway, where, he said, it had become a regular occurrence for residents to get knocked down by high-speeding vehicles around Alakuko, Kollington, Iyana-Ipaja, Abule-Egba and Ijaye bus stops.

Omisore explained further that the Lagos State Government could not continue to watch the lives of its citizens being wasted due to the nonchalant attitude of the Federal Government to provide necessary infrastructure on its roads.

While also contributing to the motion, Hon. Rasaq Balogun called on the state government to assist in providing the bridges rather than waiting for the Federal Government so as to save lives of its citizens.
