Over 500 progressive members of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) in Ibeju-Lekki Local Government Area of Lagos State at the weekend, paid a courtesy visit to one the council’s chairmanship aspirants, Mr. Toyin Ganiyu, pledging their support for his ambition.

The group, led by Prince Kehinde Oniwonlu, said that the purpose of the visit was to show appreciation to the philanthropic efforts which the young community leader had displayed in the area over the years.

Oniwonlu, who spoke at length, cited the distribution of free exercise books and mathematical set of instruments to pupils of primary and secondary schools in the locality, as example of the aspirant’s philanthropic gestures.

He added that Ganiyu also donated food items to residents of the community last year, which, according to him, was enough to prove good leadership.

“If those things can be done to thousands of people when someone has not even dreamt of any ambition, then we believe that he can give us good representation,” Oniwonlu noted, who also recalled when Ganiyu’s office was attacked at Eleko in March this year by some people suspected to be People’s Democratic Party (PDP) thugs and vandalised computers and other gadgets including vehicles parked around due to his commitment to the ACN.

Responding, the aspirant thanked the group and admonished them to remain loyal and steadfast, particularly now that the local government election was fast approaching.

He commended the efforts of the ACN leaders in both Ibeju-Lekki and the state, calling on those yet to register as party members nationwide to do so without further delay, saying that the party remained the only hope of the masses.
