A man simply identified as Samodu has died after drinking 10 bottles of a locally made hard drink popularly called Alogbo.
The deceased, at Ogombo village, Eti-Osa, Lagos, southwest Nigeria, allegedly made a bet with his best friend named Raji that any of them who could consume 20 bottles of the local gin would have N1,000.
P.M.NEWS gathered from sources in the village that the duo went to Ajah area of Eti-Osa to purchase the 20 bottles of gin for the drinking competition in which Samodu met his tragic death.
It was also learnt that the deceased’s friend, Raji, collapsed and was unconscious after consuming seven bottles of the gin and was rushed to a hospital.
P.M.NEWS further learnt that the corpse of the deceased had been deposited at a mortuary in a hospital at Eti-Osa, Lekki by the police.
When our correspondent sought the comment of the Ogombo Divisional Police Officer, DPO, he was said to have gone out, but a police source confirmed the incident, adding that they have begun investigation into the matter.
