 Tunde Ogunnoiki popularly known as Gambla is the team manager of CMCM Football team. He spoke with SUNDAY AKINTOYE about how his team lost in the Round of 32 of Boska Cup
Your team crashed out in the Round of 32 in this year’s Boska Cup, what went wrong?
It is sad that a team that played in the final two years ago could not go beyond Round of 32 in this year’s edition. We gave victory to Amazing Grace FC.
Why did you say that?
Amazing Grace are not the team that can beat us on a normal day, but it was unfortunate that we fielded Samuel Akinbinu who was match rusty. He was a total flop that day and contributed to our defeat.
How?
He made a serious blunder that gave our opponents the opportunity to score their first goal. Though we equalised in the second half, during the penalty shootouts my players were not at their best.
You knew Akinbinu was not fit for the match, why did you use him?
Akinbinu lied to me that he played regularly for Bayelsa United. It was when he played in Boska Cup, that I know that he is not only match rusty but has lost confidence as a professional player.
Which team do you tip for the final?
I tip Police Headquarters Football Team and Amazing Grace FC for final because they played good football in their previous matches.
What is your next programme?
We want to participate in Abesan Cup which kicks off next month. We have started training and I hope the team will win the tournament for our sponsor, Prophet Abiola Adebisi. We will also play other high profile soccer competitions before the end of the year.
When was CMCM founded?
It was formed five years ago. Don’t forget that it is a church club called Christ Miracle Church Mission. The team is founded by the members of the church.
