LASU Students’ Protest Disrupts Traffic


Students of the Lagos State University, LASU, Abule Egba campus, in Lagos yesterday went on the rampage .

The students took to the streets leading into their campus and barricaded the roads, disrupting traffic and preventing motorists and people from moving.

A female lecturer approached by P.M.NEWS refused to either give her name or offer any reason for the students’ protest.

Another male lecturer also failed to speak on the cause of the unrest.

The students broke bottles, carried some sticks and some weapons threatening those who were going about their normal businesses.

A journalist was almost manhandled by the students but for the timely intervention of Oko Oba Police Anti-Robbery Squad that rescued the journalist.

He was later taken to the police station.

The Divisional Police Officer in charge of Oko Oba Police Division, CSP Oloruntola Omolara, told P.M.NEWS that the student leader of the campus had earlier lodged a complaint that he was attacked by unknown people on Tuesday.

The DPO said she instructed the student leader to come back and see her but he failed to report at the station.

She wondered why the students went on rampage.

Normalcy was later restored by the cops deployed to the campus.
