Prince Gas Cup Final: Oniru Utd Manager Rues Team’s Loss

Team Manager of Oniru United, Ahmed Ajibola, has expressed disappointment over his team’s defeat in the final of Prince Gas Cup final played on Sunday at the Igando Palace playground, Lagos State, Southwest Nigeria.

Oniru United lost 3-4 to De Sholly FC on penalty shootout after a 2-2 draw in the regulation time in an encounter watched by hundreds of crowd.

Ajibola was shocked with the outcome of result and blamed his players for allowing De Sholly FC to cancel their two goals deficit in the second half of the match, admitting that their opponents deserved to be crowned champions.

“My players let me down. I was shocked when our opponents equalised in the second half. After leading in the first half, I expected them to play better in the second half. But unfortunately, they were complacent and allowed their opponents to equalise in the second half,” he said.

Ajibola, popularly known as Hadji, said they have learnt their lesson and promised to win the next edition of the competition.

Chairman , Organising Committee, Sulaimon Gbadamosi, was happy for the success of the competition and urged corporate bodies to supports sports development in Alimosho Local Government Area.

“I am happy that the competition came to an end without any violence. I want to thank the participating teams and fans for their patience throughout the tourney.
