Scarcity of petroleum products has hit Yenagoa, the Bayelsa state capital,South-South Nigeria.

The situation is so biting that the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, mega station is the only outlet dispensing fuel.

Long winding queues of anxious motorists were noticed at the mega station struggling to get the products.

P.M.NEWS gathered that the Independent Petroleum Marketers of Nigeria, IPMAN, Bayelsa branch, who are the main distributors of the products to the state capital, are diverting the products meant for the state to neighbouring states in protest over alleged police harassment.

A spokesman for Directorate of Petroleum Resources, DPR, Mr Docan Eradiri, blamed the artificial scarcity on alleged diversion of the products to members of IPMAN in other states.
