Samba Queen, Stella Monye, may postpone the burial of her mother to honour the late Mrs. Christy Essien Igbokwe. It was gathered that the decision to shift the ceremony earlier scheduled for 2 and 3 September, 2011, was borne out of pressure from her colleagues who want to be part of the burial as it clashes with that of the late Lady of Songs.

Her Excellency as Stella is popularly called, told P.M. Entertainment that although she had rolled out programmes for the burial as the uniform, aso ebi, is already in circulation, “I have to shift it in honour of my former president, Chief (Mrs.) Christy Essien-Igbokwe who was the first female to play Afro pop music and a mother to all.”

She stated further that she will be meeting her family and make them see reason why they have to shift the burial in honour of Christy.

Meanwhile, the week-long burial activities of Essien-gbokwe have been scheduled for between 2 and 9 September, 2011.
