The police at Ogombo Police Division, Ogombo Town, Lekki, Lagos, Southwest Nigeria, have arrested two notorious burglars and arraigned them beore the Igbosere Magistrateâ€™s Court on six-count charge of stealing.
The accused, Muhammed Sani, 32 and Hassan Meri, 20, were arrested, following a complaint lodged by their victim, Queen Aburime.
They were alleged to have broken into her apartment on 30 July, 2011 at MBIII, House 3, Abraham Adesanya Housing Estate, Ajah, Lagos, to steal two DVD players valued at N10,000, pressing iron valued at N3,000, suit and shirt valued at N36,000, perfume valued at N10,000, Plasma flat screen television, valued at N82,000, three wrist watches valued at N66,000, rug carpet valued at N20,000 and a blender valued at N5,000 with total value put at N292,000, property of Queen Aburime.
The offences, according to the prosecutig police officer, Coporal Julius Ogundare, are punishable under Section 516, 411, 412, 390(9) and 430 of the Criminal Code, C17, vol. ii, laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2003.
The accused pleaded not guilty to the charges and the presiding magistrate, Mrs. L.Y Balogun, granted them bail in the sum of the N100,000 with one surety each in like sum, who must provide evidence of tax payment to Lagos State government for three years.
She adjourned the matter till 26 September, 2011 for mention.
The accused were ordered remanded at Ikoyi Prison when no one came to bail them.
