The Kebbi chapter of the All Nigeria Conference of Principals of Secondary School (ANCOPSS) has urged the state government to accord priority to training and welfare of teachers.
Its president, Alhaji Aminu Umar, made the call in Birnin Kebbi on Wednesday when he led a delegation of principals to the Commissioner for Education, Alhaji Abdullahi Kamba.
He said it was only through continuous training and exposure to modern teaching methods that teachers would improve the performance of students.
Umar noted that the appointment of Kamba as commissioner for education was a right choice, “considering his reputable contributions as a teacher in public service.â€
Responding, Kamba assured the principals that measures would be taken to ensure that students’ performances in external examinations improved.
He also urged the principals to offer strategies that would improve the education sector.
