Female Clerk Charged With Theft

The police at Ilasan Police Division, Lekki, Eti-Osa, Lagos State, Southwest Nigeria, have arraigned Bola Odubanjo, 23, before the Igbosere Magistrate’s Court on a one-count charge of stealing.

The police alleged in the charge sheet that the accused was arrested, following a complaint from Brass Investment Company Limited that Bola Odubanjo, a clerk in the company has stolen their N450,000.

The incident was said to have occurred on 30 May, 2011 at Brass Investment Company Limited on Lekki Epe Expressway by Chisco Bus Stop, Lekki, Eti Osa, Lagos.

P.M.NEWS gathered from a police source that the operation manager of the company identified as Abdu Kabiru Mufutau collected N500,000 from a customer who came to buy products and left the money in the office with the clerk when he went to arrange the products for the customer, but before he returned, N450,000 had disappeared, with only N50,000 left .

When the clerk was asked about the missing money, she allegedly denied knowing anything about it. The manager reported the matter to the police and the clerk was arrested.

The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge and the presiding magistrate granted her bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties each in like sum and adjourned the matter till 21 August, 2011.

The accused was ordered remanded at the Kirikiri Maximum Prison when she could not meet her bail conditions.
