Justice Dahiru Musdapher was sworn in today as the acting Chief Justice of Nigeria, CJN, by outgoing CJN, Justice Katsina Alu who is proceeding on terminal leave effective this afternoon.
Musdapher will remain acting CJN pending his confirmation by the Senate.
He has been acting chairman of the National Judicial Council, NJC, following the outbreak of hostilities between Justice Katsina Alu and Justice Ayo Isa Salami, president of the Court of Appeal over Katsina Alu’s intervention in the Sokoto state election petition appeal.
NJC suspended Salami and President Goodluck Jonathan has appointed Justice Dalhatu Adamu as the acting president of the Court of Appeal.
