The Lagos State Commissioner for Agriculture and Cooperatives, Mr. Gbolahan Lawal, has re-affirmed governmentâ€
Speaking in Lagos, the commissioner said that the fact that rice was a staple food in Nigeria had made its production a profitable venture.
He said to ensure food security and provide employment opportunities, the state government would increase its rice production level from the current two tonnes per day to five.
Lawal further said that the issue of land mass would not be a challenge for rice production as government was planning to acquire more land for that purpose, while promising to put the needs of the citizenry, especially farmers, in top priority.
