Chief Coach of Young Stars, Hyginus Okoye, has expressed happiness that his team disgraced A-one Crystal Football Club in the U-13 APFAN Cup final.
Young stars defeated their opponents 4-0 in the pulsating match watched by a large crowd at Alade Sports Centre, Command, Ipaja, Lagos.
Okoye who was satisfied with the outcome of the matchgave glory to God for the team’s success, saying that his boys proved the critics wrong.
He commended his boys for a job well done, saying that nobody gave his team a chance to win the cup at the start of the competition.
“It was a sweet victory for my team because we taught our opponents a lesson. My boys played good football. This is our biggest win in our recent competitions. I hope we will continue like this and win more laurels before this year ends,†he said.
A one Crystal Coach, Alao Jamiu, admitted that their opponents were good enough to win the cup.
Reacting to his team’s defeat, Jamiu said the defeat was not a disgrace but a wake up call to the team.
“I don’t see our defeat as a disgrace because we came to this tournament as underdogs. I am satisfied with my team’s performance,†he said.
