A group in Ibeju-Lekki Local Government Area of Lagos State has alleged that some members of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the area have demanded N7.5 million as condition to decamp to the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN).
The group, led by one Mr. Agunbiade was said to have tendered the bill before the council chairman, Prince Bayo Balogun, who in return was said to have offered them N2 million which was rejected.
The issue, according to the group, has generated a disagreement among members of both parties in the area.
One of them, who identified himself as Muyideen Alashe, told Lagos Bulletin that the intention of the PDP members seems to be suspicious.
Alashe, who accused Prince Balogun of bias, argued that this set of people were the ones that destroyed property worth millions of naira belonging to ACN members during the last general elections, citing the campaign office of one of the party members at Eleko junction in Kaiyetoro, which was destroyed, as example.
“Up till now, no compensation has come from Mr. Balogun to this young man, whose office was attacked and the over 30 vehicles parked around there were damaged by PDP members,” he declared.
Consequently, the group warned Balogun not to take any step that will tarnish the image of the party, stressing that his third term agenda as council chairman cannot be realised as he has spent 12 years in the council, having served as secretary for six years and two terms as chairman.
