The Deputy Governor of Gombe State, Mr. David Albashi, sustained serious injuries when his vehicle collided with another vehicle along the Cham-Gombe road on Sunday.
A sources close to the Deputy Governor told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Gombe on Sunday that the Deputy Governorâ€™s orderly, Cpl. Thomas Nifwa, died on the spot.
The Deputy Governorâ€™s convoy was coming from Cham, his village to Gombe, when he had a head-on collision with an on coming Golf car.
According to the source, Albashiâ€™s car somersaulted twice and he sustained serious injuries on his head.
A hospital source told NAN that Nifwaâ€™s body had been deposited at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Gombe, while Albashi was being treated in the hospital.
Armed security operatives did not allow NAN correspondent to enter the accident and emergency unit where Albashi was being treated.
Gombe State Government Officials declined to speak with NAN on the incident.
