President General of the Nigeria Football Supporters Club, Dr Rafiu Ladipo, has urged Sports Minister, Yusuf Suleman, to upgrade the dilapidated sporting facilities across the country, saying that the unity of the country lies in sports.
Ladipo said it is necessary for the minister to provide a conducive atmosphere for all the nation’s athletes, adding that the nation’s recent poor run in sports is caused by the substandard facilities being used to groom the athletes.
“It is very important and necessary for our new sports minister to upgrade the nation’s dilapidated sporting facilities across the country.
“The state of our sports facilities is nothing to write home about and it has been affecting our locally groomed athletes,”he said.
He, however, lauded the former sports minister, Prof. Taoheed Adedoja, for his efforts towards upgrading the nation’s sporting facilities to the required standard during his brief time as the sports minister.
