5 Die In Car Accident

No fewer than five people died in a motor accident on Thursday on Gusau-Zaria road in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara.

The accident occurred at about 5 p.m. a few kilometres before Yandoto village when a Golf car and an 18-seater bus had a head-on collision while trying to avoid hitting some animals that were crossing the road.

A witness, Malam Mustapha Aliyu said that five persons died instantly while several others sustained injuries.

He noted that many accidents have been recorded in the area in the past few days.

Some of the victims were rushed to the General Hospital, Tsafe, while others were taken to the Federal Medical Centre, Gusau for medical attention.

In his comments, the Sector Commander of the FRSC in Zamfara, Mr. Cheche Kalu, confirmed the accident, attributing it to reckless driving.

Kalu also said that 19 out of the 26 passengers from the two vehicles sustained injuries during the accident and were now receiving medical attention in various hospitals.

He advised motorists to abide by traffic rules and regulations.
