Man, 37, Bags 18-month Jail Term For Stealing N4.3m Fish

A former staff of Stallion Frozen Fish Company, Talabi Tokunbo, has been sentenced to 18 months imprisonment for stealing 1,461 cartons of frozen fish.

Chief Magistrate Davies Abegunde of Igbosere Magistrates’ Court, Lagos, sentenced Tokunbo, 37, on Thursday without an option of fine.

Abegunde expressed satisfaction at the convict’s admission of guilt and ordered him to be locked up at the Ikoyi Prisons with hard labour.

The prosecutor, ASP Eshiet Eshiet, told the court that Tokunbo stole the fish, valued at N4.3 million, at the company’s premises at 9, Kole St., Orile Igamu, Lagos, between 2007 and 2008.

Eshiet said the convict stole the fish in batches.
