An aspirant for the chairmanship of Ojokoro Local Council Development Area, LCDA, Lagos, Southwest Nigeria, Dipo Okeyomi, has hinted that his agenda, if voted into office in the forthcoming local government election, would be to keep the youths in the LCDA busy.

Mr. Okeyomi, a security expert, gave this promise when he paid a courtesy call on the royal father of the area, Oba Rilwan Oluwalambe Taiwo, as part of activities to flag off of his campaign.

According to him, the LCDA had witnessed a lot of challenges in the last few years and as a result, the people are now pushing for a change.

“The people are tired of non-performance and are now ready to take the bull by the horn.

“This area is highly populated, yet we have not devised ways to generate enough internal revenue to supplement what we get as federal allocation.

“Our roads are in bad shape, our drainages have not been fixed for years now. You can now imagine a situation where there is flood. These whole situations make the people of the area frustrated.

I have a master plan of how to fix the youths into useful ventures,” he said.

He lamented that currently, the workforce of the local government is not more than 300, but that he will create 700 jobs if he is elected as chairman.

“They should not bother about where they would work and how they would be paid. I have mapped that out too,” he added.

He promised to surpass the achievements of his predecessor.

In the area of education, he said he had carried out activities in the sector even before he decided to contest.

According to him, 60 undergraduates of the area have been benefiting from his foundation which gives them N5, 000 each on a monthly basis, just as he had donated books and other reading materials to some schools in the area.
