Members of the Lagos Mainland Stakeholders Forum have called on the leadership of the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, to be cautious in its choice of aspirants for chairmanship positions in Lagos Mainland Local Government and Yaba Local Council Development Area.

They warned the leadership not to do anything that would make the party lose the next local government polls to the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, in the area.

Addressing journalists yesterday, former Chairman of Lagos Mainland Local Government and leader of the forum, Dr. Babatunde Sulaimon Larinde, urged the leadership to be fair to all the aspirants for chairmanship position in the area.

“There are eight local government chairmanship aspirants in Lagos Mainland and Yaba and it is our hope that the ACN leadership will give all the aspirants a fair chance. We are against the candidatures of Jide Jimoh for Yaba local government and Oladele Adekanye for Lagos Mainland.

“These two aspirants belonged to the Bashiru Bolarinwa group and we all know what Bolarinwa did when he dumped our party and went to the PDP to contest the governorship election in Kwara State.

“The leadership should beware of these aspirants because we don’t want to be betrayed again. The ACN screening committee should screen all the aspirants and ensure that they pick only genuine members of the party to contest the local government election,” Larinde stated.

Also speaking at the conference, Chief John Oludaye said Lagos Mainland and Yaba residents will not vote for the two aspirants in the coming local government polls because they did not provide dividends of democracy to the people when they were chairmen of the councils.
