Nigerian tennis star, Emmanuel Sunday, has tasked the nation’s players to the ongoing All Africa Games in Maputo, Mozambique, to write Nigeria’s name in gold when they confront their opponents at the Games, saying the squad has no excuse not to excel.
Emmanuel said the team had good preparation for the Games and must reciprocated by topping the medal’s chart in Maputo.
“The team should go outand win medals. They were well prepared for the Games and the best were shortlisted at the Abuja camp,†he said.
He, however, rued his absence in Maputo, saying he would miss tennis action at the Games unlike the last edition in Algiers, Algeria when he had the chance to represent the country.
“I’m sad that I couldn’t make it to the All Africa Games in Maputo. There is no greater honour than to represent your country in an international event and write your nation’s name in gold,†he said.
Emmanuel was allegedly sent out of camp in Abuja for indiscipline.
