A newly commissioned mosque at Igbesa area of Ijebu Ode has collapsed killing a bricklayer, while two others were injured.

P.M.NEWS gathered that the mosque at Oloko Street beside the new Igbesa Muslim praying ground, Ijebu Ode, Southwest Nigeria collapsed a week after it was commissioned.

The mosque was built on the same plot of land where two duplexes were constructed.

The property was reportedly built by the Vice Chairman of the National Road Transport Workers NURTW, Ijebu Ode branch, Alhaji Bashiru Yusuf, a.k.a. Aweda.

P.M.NEWS learnt that Aweda had not been in good terms with the builders, who accused him of highhandedness.

The corpse of the deceased has been deposited at the Ijebu Ode General Hospital mortuary, while the injured workers at the project site are presently receiving treatment at the same hospital.

They were initially rushed to a private hospital where they were referred to the general hospital.

A source at Ijebu Ode Police Station confirmed the incident but declined to comment on the cause of incident, saying investigation is still ongoing.
