A trader, Mrs. Ope Olaleye has appealed to an Agege Grade ‘A’ Customary Court, Lagos, Southwest Nigeria to help settle the rift between her and her husband, Mr. James Olaleye, 45.

She begged the court not to dissolve her eight-year old marriage during a cross examination.

She explained that her problem started a year after her marriage during which her husband would go to work and come back the next day to eat and return to work.

“I will sleep at home during the cold night with nobody to give me warmth. For six years, my husband will go to work and ask me to wait for him only to return in the afternoon and start begging me not to be offended because he cannot have sex with me because he was tired. How can I get pregnant like this?

“I discuss the issue with my pastor who told me to be patient and that God will change him for the better. Whenever he comes home, he will tell me he is either tired or has lost sexual appetite,” she narrated.

The respondent alleged further that her husband was fond of sleeping with trainee staff at his place of work.

Responding to the allegations, James confessed to having extra-marital flings at his place of work but accused his wife of being disobedient.

“She comes to my place of work to ask about my relationship with staff. She was not like that when we got married in 2007. She also threatened to kill me, my girlfriend and the unborn child, if I impregnated someone,” he stated.

He attributed his absence at home to the fact that he was deployed to the emergency session of his company, adding that most of his staff were trainees and do not know much about the medical profession.

He said he refused to have sex with his wife because she always make him unhappy.
