The new Divisional Police Officer of Orile Iganmu Police Division, Lagos State, southwest Nigeria, has continued his onslaught against criminal elements in the division. Recently, about 27 suspects armed robbers were arrested in two canoes in the canal at Sari Iganmu area of Orile Iganmu recently.

A police source informed P.M.NEWS that the suspects were arrested after the DPO received information that several robbery suspects had loaded themselves into two boats from Ijora Badia through Sari Iganmu canal to unleash terror and rob residents of Sari Iganmu and its environs.

The DPO, it was learnt, mobilised his men and laid ambush around the swampy terrain.

P.M.NEWS further gathered that as soon as the robbery suspects arrived the area at about 10 p.m. and were disembarking from their boats, the police reportedly rounded them up and took them to the police station while some of them managed to escape.

One of their boats was also seized and taken to the police division where it is currently being kept.

When P.M.NEWS visited the Orile Police Division, the canoe was seen outside the station but efforts to see the DPO for comments proved abortive as he was said to have gone to the Lagos State Police Command for a meeting.

A police source, however, confirmed the incident and said that all the suspects had been transferred to the Lagos State Police Command (Special Anti-Robbery Squad office) for thorough investigation.
