Ogun State government says it is set to reintroduce Scouting into the school curriculum in order to impart values and morals to the youths.

Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, disclosed this in his office while receiving in audience the Chief Scout of Nigeria, Engineer Ahmodu Muhammed, who was on a courtesy visit to the governor.

According to the governor, youths in the country are gradually losing morals and values, a situation that has led to youth restiveness. He described the trend as worrisome.

“We would encourage our children to take to Scouting. I’m sure once we do that, we would go back to the glorious school days when values and morals were being imparted to our youths. That is why we are what we are today.”

He pointed out that government was determined to ensure that youths were gainfully employed, adding that youth restiveness could be attributed to idleness.

The Chief Scout of Nigeria, Engineer Mohammed, had earlier in his remarks advised the state government to reintroduce Scouting into public schools’ curriculum, noting that by the re-introduction, youth restiveness would be reduced to the barest minimum.
