Oba-elect of Somolu-Bariga in Lagos State, Jagunmolu Gbolahan Akanbi Timson, has enjoined political office hoders to try to win the confidence of the people by embarking on development programmes and policies that will improve the living condition of the masses, adding that this will in turn make the society appreciate their leadership.

Timson said one good thing about good leaders, who serve the people with all their heart through development projects is that they will always enjoy the support of the people in their political career as well as the blessings of God.

He said every political office holder, whether elected or appointed, should have a programme targeted at giving the people the dividends of democracy, adding that this should overrule personal interests.

According to the monarch, leaders who chose to ignore the interests of the people who voted them during an election were not fit to occupy positions of leadership.

Speaking with Lagos Bulletin during the last Eid-el-Fitri celebration in his palace in Bariga, Oba Timson said that the primary duty of leaders should be to put smiles on the faces of the masses through provision of basic social amenities.

He reminded leaders that they would not have attained such positions without the votes of the electorate, stressing that it is better to reward the people with good development programmes than make them regret their action by voting them into power.
