The police in Lagos have arrested four robbery suspects who attacked workers in a fishing boat in Badagry, Lagos State, Southwest Nigeria.

The arrest was made by policemen from the special anti-robbery squad (SARS) led by S.P. Abba Kyari.

The suspects, Taofeek Imoru, Sunday Normeshie, James John and Kporfliso Oguntade were alleged to have used their guns to rob the workers in a fishing trawler and collected N250,000 from them.

Operatives of SARS alleged that one of the suspects, Taofeek Imoru confessed to the crime, adding that he went with his accomplices to rob workers in a fishing trawler.

”We went with three locally made long rifles with live cartridges. The guns are with my gang leader popularly called Azeez,” he allegedly told the police during interrogation.

Imoru was arrested when the victims reported the incident to the police. He later led the police to arrest his accomplices.

His accomplices denied participating in the crime, saying that they were wrongly arrested.

A SARS operative confirmed that the suspects would be charged to court at the conclusion of investigation.
