Residents of 30, Burma Road, Sabongari, Kano, Northern Nigeria, woke up this morning and found the body of Emeka Odoh, 35, stone dead inside a local eatery in front of the compound.

The restaurant is owned by Mrs Caroline Chukwulobe from Oba in Anambra State, popularly known as Nwanyioba.

According to an eye witness, Chinedu John Ogbonna, 25, a colleague of the deceased who shared a mat with him inside the restaurant, was suspected to have killed him with a digger which was found beside the late Emeka at about 6 a.m. today.

The source further told P.M.NEWS that Emeka’s corpse was found inside the local restaurant while Ogbonna was suspected to have escaped through the fence after committing the dastardly act.

According to one of their colleagues who does not want his name mentioned while speaking with P.M.NEWS this morning,“I woke up at about 6 a.m. today and started to sweep the compound. At about 6.30 a.m, I found out that the shop was not yet opened. Emeka and Chinedu slept in the shop last night. I left them at about 10.30 p.m. They were then in good mood.

“After sweeping the compound and the two friends were yet to open the door of the restaurant, I decided to open and wake them up. But to my utter surprise, when I got inside the restaurant, I discovered the body of Emeka with blood all over and a digger beside him. I immediately shut the door and raised the alarm. Residents gathered around and we invited the police.”

The police later arrived the scene of the incident to remove the body of the late Emeka and deposited it at the Murtala Muhammed Specialist Hospital, Kano for autopsy.

According to a police source, the fleeing Ogbonna had been arrested and he is presently cooling his heels at Gezawa Police Station, Kano.
