The police at Ijeshatedo Police Station in Lagos, while on patrol arrested a suspected car vandal with a bag containing spareparts.
The suspect was accosted along Onilani Road, Ijesha.
According to a police source, when the bag was searched, it was discovered to contain motor parts and when suspect was asked ownership of the spareparts, he confessed to having vandalised five volkwagen Golf cars and stolen the parts along Martins Street, Ijeshatedo. He was said to have been promptly arrested and taken to the station where he made further statements.
The case, according to a police source, has been transferred to the Lagos State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, Panti Street, Yaba, Lagos.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Samuel Jinadu, adviced motorists to avoid parking their vehicles in isolated areas to prevent them from being vandalisation by criminals.
â€œMy advice to motorists is that whenever they want to park their vehicles, they should make sure that they are parked where other people can see it . Vehicles are not to be parked in isolated areas where criminals can easily go and vandalise them or remove valuables from them. We all should be security conscious,â€ he said.
In another development, there was a report at Makinde Police Station, Oshodi, that a yet-to-be identified motorists hit a pedestrian, Akintola Ayobami, at Adebowale bus stop along Apapa-Oshodi Expressway.
The victim was said to have died on the spot.
Traffic police from the station visited the scene and took the corpse to a public mortuary for autopsy while the case is being investigated.
